Family Guide
XtraMath is a nonprofit organization with a free online program that helps your child know their math facts by heart (recall and automaticity): addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. When facts come quickly, fractions, word problems, and other advanced math become easier, and your child feels more confident.
- Who it's for: children in grades K–8, and older students who need a review
- How long: about 10 minutes a day
- What you need: any device with a web browser. There's nothing to install.

Before you Start
XtraMath builds recall and automaticity. It doesn't teach math concepts. Make sure your child understands how to solve basic math facts before practicing them in XtraMath.

Using XtraMath at home or for homeschooling? Add each child in just a few minutes. All your children appear together on one dashboard, so you can see everyone's progress in one place. Each child gets their own program matched to their grade and their own 4-digit PIN to sign in.
Did your child bring home a flyer from school? Don't add them here. Follow the instructions on the flyer instead. This links your child's home practice to their school account, so both you and the teacher can see their progress.

XtraMath adapts to your child, focusing on the facts they're still learning. Each daily session takes about 10 minutes: a short quiz to check progress, then practice to build speed and confidence. Along the way, your child earns trophies and certificates to celebrate their success.

Every child starts with a grade-level program that follows CCSS-M and TEKS fluency expectations. These recommended programs are included free.
With a Family License, you can tailor practice to your child by choosing:
- Operation: focus on one skill, like multiplication
- Timer: give your child more or less time to answer (12, 6, 3, or 1.5 seconds)
- Difficulty level: Beginning, Regular, or Expanded facts
- Program type: Adaptive Practice for daily practice, or a Placement Quiz to check your child's current level
Your Child's Progress Reports
See how your child is doing at a glance, and dig deeper when you need to.
- Student Report: your child's fluency score, a calendar of the days they practiced, and the trophies and certificates they've earned.
- Date Report: every answer your child gave on a given day. It's helpful if your child is stuck on certain facts.
- Weekly email: a PDF of your child's progress, sent every Monday after a week with practice.
